These Terms of Use govern your use of the Root & Paws website and related services. Root & Paws (referred to as “we,” “us,” or “our” as applicable) is happy to welcome visitors to the our site and simply ask that you agree to and will follow these terms and conditions detailed below.

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF USE CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THE WEBSITE. BY VISITING, VIEWING, OR USING THE WEBSITE AND ITS SERVICES, YOU (ON BEHALF OF YOURSELF AND ANY ORGANIZATION YOU REPRESENT) ARE AGREEING TO THESE TERMS OF USE AND TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE TERMS OF USE, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SERVICES.

Root & Paws provides holistic wellness coaching, education, and personalized support for pets and their people. Services include, but are not limited to, pet health assessments, pet diet and nutrition recommendations, subscription membership to Root & Paws content, and the information and resources found on rootandpaws.com.

These services are educational and informational in nature. Lyda Cruden is a Certified Holistic Pet Health Coach, not a veterinarian, and nothing provided through Root & Paws is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. (See the Disclaimer Notice page for more information.) The Terms of Use detailed on this page apply to your use of and interaction with all Root & Paws services.

2.1 Modification of the Services. We reserve the right to modify the website and related services at any time with or without notice to you and without liability. For example, we may add, modify or remove functionality or features, and we may suspend or stop a particular feature or service offering altogether. 

2.2 Modification of Terms. We also reserve the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. When such changes are made, we will make a copy of the new Terms of Use available to you on our website by updating the Last Modified date. By continuing to use or log in to the Services after these Terms of Use have changed, you indicate your agreement to the revised Terms of Use. If you do not agree to our changes, you can stop using the Services at any time.

3.1 Registration. Creating an account may be required to make purchases, subscribe, or access certain features. Users must be at least 18 to register independently; users aged 13–17 may access some Services only with parental or guardian supervision and consent. No one under 13 may use the Services. You must provide accurate information, not impersonate others, and keep your account details current.

3.2 Account Security. Your account is for your use only. Do not share it. Keep your password confidential and unique to this platform. You are solely responsible for all activity and payments made through your account. If you suspect your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at info@rootandpaws.com. We are not liable for any loss resulting from unauthorized use of your credentials.

3.3 Account Monitoring and Suspension. We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to monitor accounts and related activity. We may deactivate, suspend, or terminate your account at our sole discretion for reasons including: violation of these Terms; risk or legal exposure to Root & Paws or any third party; discontinuation or material modification of the Services; security issues; account deletion requests; nonpayment of fees; or extended inactivity. Root & Paws bears no liability to you or any third party for any such action.

3.4 Subscriptions, Memberships, and Paid Services. As a registered user, you may subscribe to premium services and/or subscription, which unlock additional features and content where available. All subscription use is subject to these Terms of Use.

4.1 Use Restrictions. The Services are for personal, noncommercial use only. Noncommercial use excludes software development—including training AI or machine learning systems—without prior written consent. Do not use the website in ways that violate laws, infringe rights, cause offense, or interfere with the website or its security measures. Do not attempt unauthorized access to the website, its services or its systems. We reserve the right to terminate your account, revoke access, and pursue legal action if we determine you have acted inappropriately. Using the website does not grant you ownership of or rights to any content accessed through them; prior written permission is required to use such content unless otherwise permitted by law. By using the website, you agree to comply with all applicable laws.

4.2 Interactions on the website. The website may facilitate connections between users, including features such as liking, commenting, and sharing. Root & Paws acts as a neutral facilitator and is not responsible for the truth, accuracy, quality, legality, or safety of user-generated content. Users are expected to exercise common sense and good judgment, and to report any non-compliant use to Root & Paws for investigation.

5.1 Definitions. As used in these Terms of Use, “Content” means any form of information, data, or creative expressions and includes, without limitation, video, films, audio, photographs, images, designs, illustrations, articles, recipes, training plans, software, features and all intellectual property embodied therein, any of which may be generated, provided or otherwise made available or accessible on or through the website and its services.

5.2 Content License. All Root & Paws Content and all copyright, trademarks, design rights, patents and other intellectual property rights (registered and unregistered) in and to the website and its services belong to Root & Paws and/or its partners or applicable third parties. Subject to your compliance with these Terms of Use, we grant you a limited, revocable, personal, non-transferable and non-exclusive right and license to access and use the website and its services and the Root & Paws Content for your own personal, noncommercial purposes, provided that you do not (and do not allow any third party to) copy, modify, creative derivative works, reverse engineer, sell, assign, sublease, transfer or otherwise commercially exploit any right in the Root & Paws Content.

5.3 Permitted Use. This website is intended for personal, noncommercial use to help pet owners access general health information and guidance for their animals. You may use the content on this site to inform decisions about your pet’s care, subject to these terms.

5.4 Not a Substitute for Veterinary Care. The information provided on this website is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a licensed veterinarian before making decisions about your pet’s health. In the event of a medical emergency, contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal clinic immediately.

5.5 Prohibited Conduct. When using this website, you agree not to:

  • Misrepresent yourself as a veterinary professional or other animal health expert
  • Submit false, misleading, or harmful information in any interactive features
  • Use content from this site to provide advice to others for commercial gain without prior written consent
  • Reproduce, distribute, or repurpose site content without authorization
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the website or its systems
  • Use the website in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

5.6 User-Generated Content. Where the website permits comments, questions, or community participation, you agree to post only accurate, respectful, and relevant content. We reserve the right to remove any content deemed inappropriate, harmful, or inconsistent with these terms.

5.7 Enforcement. Root & Paws reserves the right to suspend or terminate access for any user found to be in violation of this policy, and to take appropriate legal action where warranted.

6.1 Electronic Communications. All communications related to your use of the Services will be sent electronically and satisfy any legal writing requirement. Company notices are considered delivered when sent to your email address on file. You may opt out of promotional emails at any time via the unsubscribe instructions provided, but you cannot opt out of service-related communications.

6.2 Notices. By using the Services, you consent to receiving all agreements, notices, disclosures, and other communications electronically. These satisfy any legal writing requirement and are considered delivered when sent to your email address on file.

7.1 Third Party Links. The Services may contain links to third party websites, services and events. We are not responsible for examining or evaluating the content or accuracy and we do not warrant and will not have any liability or responsibility for any third-party materials or websites, or for any other materials, products, or services of third-parties. You interact with Third Party Links at your own risk. Similarly, Root & Paws is not liable for any harm or damages related to the purchase or use of goods, services, resources, content, or any other transactions made in connection with any third-party websites. Please review carefully the third-party’s policies and practices and make sure you understand them before you engage in any transaction. Complaints, claims, concerns, or questions regarding third-party products should be directed to the third-party. 

7.2 Third Party Software. The Services may incorporate certain third party software (“Third Party Software”), which is licensed subject to the terms and conditions of the third party licensing such Third Party Software. Nothing in these Terms of Use limits your rights under, or grants you rights that supersede, the terms and conditions of any applicable license for such Third Party Software.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that Root & Paws and Lyda Cruden are not providing medical or veterinary advice via the Services. All content provided through the website and its services is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any disease. Any coaching or opinion expressed is left to the site visitor/reader to implement or not. As your pet’s guardian, you are responsible to verify or research as needed before taking action. Coaching statements and product recommendations have not been evaluated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Any product suggestions or suggested strategies discussed are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

We make no representations or warranties, express or implied, including without limitation, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, suitability, or performance to you in connection with, arising out of, or relating to your subscription to Root & Paws services.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Root & Paws and Lyda Cruden shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of our services, website, or any recommendations provided. You acknowledge that decisions regarding your pet’s health and care remain your responsibility, made in consultation with your veterinarian. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Root &Paws, Lyda Cruden, and their respective Representatives from any and all claims arising out of or related to your breach of these Terms of Use and any of your activities related to or in connection with services provided.

10.1 Trademarks. All trademarks, logos, and service marks displayed on the Services are registered and unregistered trademarks of Root & Paws and/or of third parties who have authorized their use (collectively the “Trademarks”). You may not use, copy, reproduce, republish, upload, post, transmit, distribute, or modify any of these Trademarks in any way.

10.2 Copyrights. All of the materials on the website are copyrighted, except where explicitly noted otherwise. Copyright infringement is a violation of federal law subject to criminal and civil penalties.

14.1 No Waiver. If you do not comply with these Terms of Use, and we don’t take enforcement action right away, that does not constitute a waiver, and we are not giving up any rights that we may have (such as taking enforcement action in the future).

14.2 Severability. If it turns out that a particular provision in these Terms of Use is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall nonetheless be enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, and the unenforceable portion shall be deemed to be severed from these Terms of Use, and such determination shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any other remaining provisions.

14.3 Miscellaneous. Headers are for convenience and do not affect the interpretation of these Terms of Use. These Terms of Use constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company relating to the use of this Services and supersedes and replaces any prior agreement and communication between the parties.
